One dad’s jokey method to keep children behaving ahead of Christmas day went viral on TikTok and left people divided – with some viewers dubbing the suggestion ‘cruel’
It’s that time of year again when Christmas is just around the corner.
Naturally, children are already VERY excited – and parents have some tried and tested ways of ensuring they behave ahead of the big day.
This often includes Elf on the Shelf – the festive little character that pops up around the home and convinces children that they’re being watched.
Now one dad’s cheeky method went viral on TikTok after he shared a rather controversial way to keep your kids in line.
His jokey suggestion racked up millions of views and left people divided, with some viewers not keen on his suggestion.
On TikTok, dad Benny shared a video of a roaring fire – with presents dotted around the room in festive wrapping paper.
He explained: “Christmas is coming, and here is a sure fire way to ensure your little darlings behaving proper.”
The captions on the video said: “With Christmas approaching, here is a top tip for parents.
“Wrap up some empty boxes and pretend they have presents. Then each time one of those little f misbehaves, chuck one on to the fire.”
If you do plan to do this (which we’d advise against), make sure you which boxes contain real presents – it’s best not to accidentally burn a real gift.
Parents in the comments were divided whether the hack, with some urging people not to do this.
One raged: “How to cause trauma to children.”
Another wrote: “If you need to do this to get your kids to behave, then the issue is not with the kids.”
A third added: “Ah yes, let’s start the childhood trauma early and make them hate Christmas.”
But others found it hilarious, with one viewer commenting: “This is hilarious.”
Another wrote: “My dad did this, we started to behave after this.”
